A sustainability chat with Here We Flo’s Ellie England

Can you tell us who you are and what you do?

So I'm Ellie England from Here We Flo. I’m a B2B Sales & Operations Executive. We are a women-owned sustainable period care, bladder, and sexual wellness company. We work with a few different charities. We work with Bloody Good Period, The Orchid Project, and the Arthur Kennedy Trust. And 5% of our profits go to those charities, and a few more. We're also a certified B Corp, and sustainability is obviously a very big part of our mission, considering we're at Earthfest today.

How does Here We Flo approach sustainability and inclusivity in your products?

To us, it's very much about being loud and proud. I don't know if you can see here—we said we're the feminist mafia! What we wanted was to make life’s messiest moments as inclusive and as natural as they could be.

I feel like there's quite a stigma around periods and period care. We want children to understand their cycles, and we want education around it. For us, it’s about making it better for people and better for the planet. That means using as sustainable and ethical materials and suppliers as we possibly can.

What’s the biggest challenge you’re currently facing?

I would say the change in landscape. We’re constantly researching and looking for better options from a sustainability perspective, but there are continuous changes.

Also, we import around different areas of the world, so finding the most sustainable way to do that—along with navigating changing tariffs and global politics—is a challenge. It’s also important to us that we align with who is stocking us.

So I think it’s just—as it is for everyone right now—about staying on top of it all, while staying true to our mission.

And what’s the heart of that mission for you?

Just making everyone proud—and loud. Happy and confident about their messiest moments. Giving them the confidence to talk about it, to reach out if they're not sure.

Yeah, I think empowering women and people who have periods is our biggest mission overall.
